Roles to Watch

Not current openings — these are the roles that typically become active as projects like the ones on Project Radar move through their phases. If one of these matches you, list yourself now so you're already in front of companies when real roles open.

WIND

Project Developer

TYPICAL PHASE — Development / Permitting / Tender

Owns a project from early planning through to award — coordinating with regulators, landowners, and grid operators, managing permitting and environmental risk, and building the case that gets a site to Final Investment Decision. Most in demand during Development, Permitting, and Tender phases, before construction ever starts.

LIST MYSELF →
GRID

Grid Developer

TYPICAL PHASE — Development / Permitting / Contract Awarded

Focuses specifically on the grid-connection side: interconnection agreements, transmission capacity studies, and coordinating with TSOs (like TenneT or Elia) to secure and de-risk a project's route to the grid. Increasingly the bottleneck on new offshore wind — sites with a clear grid path move faster than ones without.

WIND

Project Engineer

TYPICAL PHASE — FEED / Detailed Engineering

The technical coordination hub between engineering disciplines and project management — tracking deliverables, resolving interface issues between mechanical, electrical, and civil scopes, and keeping the technical schedule honest. Needed continuously from FEED through commissioning, but demand peaks once detailed engineering starts.

WIND

Mechanical Engineer

TYPICAL PHASE — Detailed Engineering / Installation / Commissioning

Designs, analyzes, and optimizes the mechanical systems involved — turbine components, foundations, structural interfaces, and mechanical completion during installation. Real demand shows up in two separate waves: detailed engineering (design work) and installation/commissioning (mechanical completion, punch-list work).

LIST MYSELF →
HYDROGEN

Process Engineer

TYPICAL PHASE — FEED / Detailed Engineering (hydrogen production facilities)

Central to hydrogen projects specifically — designs process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and process data sheets for electrolyzer and production facilities, and works across engineering, HSE, and operations to keep the process design safe and efficient. Needed from detailed design onward, well before a hydrogen facility is actually built.

WIND

Safety / HSE Engineer

TYPICAL PHASE — Fabrication / Construction / Installation

Runs hazard identification studies, quantifies risk, and builds the safety case documentation that demonstrates major-accident risk is reduced to ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable) — required before offshore construction or installation can proceed. Demand is highest exactly when physical work starts: fabrication, construction, and installation phases.

WIND

Marine / Offshore Coordinator

TYPICAL PHASE — Fabrication / Construction / Installation / Commissioning

Plans and supervises offshore maritime operations — coordinating vessel movements, personnel transfers, and equipment transport to site, liaising constantly with onshore teams and Marine Coordination Centres, and making real-time calls when weather or logistics disrupt the plan. One of the most continuously-needed roles once physical offshore work starts.

LIST MYSELF →
WIND

Logistics Coordinator

TYPICAL PHASE — Fabrication / Construction / Installation

Keeps people and equipment moving — scheduling vessel crew rotations, booking transport and accommodation for offshore crew changes, managing cargo and inventory, and making sure manning and material requirements are met without gaps. Runs continuously through construction and installation, scaling up sharply once a project has multiple concurrent work fronts.

LIST MYSELF →
WIND

Expediter

TYPICAL PHASE — Contract Awarded / Fabrication

Tracks purchase orders for fabricated equipment (turbines, foundations, cables, platforms) from suppliers through to delivery, chasing down schedule slippage before it becomes a project delay. Works closely with procurement and the project team to resolve delivery discrepancies and keep fabrication on schedule — most critical once major contracts are signed and fabrication begins.

WIND

Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician

TYPICAL PHASE — Installation / Commissioning / Operations

Hands-on installation, testing, and troubleshooting of a turbine's electrical and instrumentation systems — cabling, switchgear, control and monitoring equipment. Real postings for this role consistently ask for GWO (Global Wind Organisation) safety training, NEN 3140 (electrical safety), a valid offshore medical certificate, and VCA or MIST certification — worth having in place before applying, not after. One of the highest-volume technician roles once turbines are actually being installed or maintained.
