What's Happening
The world's first artificial energy island is under construction 45km off the Belgian coast, built by the TM Edison consortium (DEME and Jan De Nul). 17 of 23 caissons were installed as of mid-2026. Elia has opened a separate tender for the onshore civil works needed to host the island's AC infrastructure.
